The journey behind Selling On Fire

At twenty, I was so overwhelmed by self doubt and anxiety that I could barely bring myself to walk into a bank.

Some years later, I was selling professional services to some of the leading law firms in the country in the City of London and had established my own business there.

What changed?

The answer wasn’t simply that I learned to sell.

Selling became the unexpected vehicle through which I discovered myself, began to understand other people and developed principles and life skills that transformed both my career and my life. But these were not the beginning of the story- they were the result of finding peace and purpose.

“Selling gave me a living. Understanding myself—and understanding others—gave me a life.”

Selling On Fire is part of the story of that journey.

This is not simply a book about selling and networking.

It is about discovering abilities you may never have realised you had, making the best of what you have, conquering fear, finding motivation, recognising opportunities which others have missed and creating trust. Selling became the proving ground where those discoveries were tested every day.

What makes people tick intrigued me. How my mind could be fully used fascinated me. Some discoveries I made led me to develop original concepts such as The Zebra Crossing EffectThe Bloodhound’s Nose, The Tidal Turbine Effect and Simmer-Solving. They became powerful tools to greatly increase my sales and to a breakthrough in effective networking. I pioneered them through decades of real-world experience.

Looking back, I can honestly say that if God had not met me in that dark place, I do not know where I would be today.

Step by step, He replaced fear with peace, anxiety with confidence and uncertainty with purpose. As I changed, I discovered strengths I never knew I possessed.

My hope is that Selling On Fire does more than help people become better Sales and Networking professionals. I want it to give them the same hope, courage and insight into their real potential as I had even during the very difficult days. I want the book to help them understand themselves, to understand others, to recognise opportunities and to build lives and careers of which they can be proud.

‍A quote from a client:

“A massive increase in meetings with decision makers and resultant sales”

Why write the book Selling On Fire?

I wrote this book for several reasons. To give people hope that there can be light at the end of the tunnel whatever their background or present struggles. For the younger generation I want to show that the sky is still the limit for their aspirations regardless of what they may currently feel is holding them back. I also want to share the importance of understanding people and presenting yourself well - skills that can help in job interviews, career progression, business relationships, friendships and family life.
